Want to learn how to use pastels but don't know where to start? Perhaps you'd like to be able to draw animals but get lost when it comes to anatomy? If this is you then I can help.
I run classes from my studio in Pakenham if you're looking for guidance on your artistic journey. I'm all for guiding you while you find your own visual voice, I strongly believe in allowing you the creative freedom while having the security of my knowledge to help you.
You can choose from my Pastel Masterclass, a structured course that looks at every facet of working with pastel, or if you're just looking for advice while you do your own thing the Open Art Classes may be perfect for you. All mediums are welcome for the open class but if you want to work in oils just give me warning ahead of time so I can check with the other students first.
Classes run from Pakenham and Mornington

OUTDOOR PASTEL WORKSHOPS
CAPE PATERSON TO INVERLOCH
The Inverloch workshop went really well, with glorious weather challenging the participants in the morning before we moved on to the Art Gallery of Inverloch to put the lessons learned on site into practice. Here is a photo of the girls at work.

MORNINGTON TO MOUNT MARTHA
Despite a couple of hiccups the Mount Martha session went briliantly. The first location at Mornington was quite gloomy with cloud cover threatening to spoil our time outside but upon our arrival to Mount Martha we got to work in the glory of the summer atmosphere. For this workshop we kept it on location, everyone leaving satisfied with their outdoor impressions and the growth they all achieved. Here is shot of them hard at work.

THE COASTAL TRAIL
This workshop proved to be a real challenge and resulted in some great works. Starting at Blackrock while there was still some useful light all participants found out how much of a challenge the plein air experience can be. From there it only got more difficult. The next location was Ricketts Point, where the skies opened up and threatened rain on numerous occasions. Finally we moved on to Beaumaris where the chill of the evening swept up off the bay. Congratulations to the girls for giving it a go and coming away with some great works from very tough conditions. Following on from this workshop four of my students received accolades at the Sandringham Lions En Plein Air competition.
